Toni Barnes, Founder
Mother Oliver’s Place was founded by Toni Barnes, inspired by a woman in her neighborhood known as Mother Oliver. As a young person, Toni experienced a season of need, and Mother Oliver—who lived down the street—opened her home and took her in. That act of compassion and stability shaped Toni’s lifelong commitment to creating safe spaces where youth can grow, heal, and thrive. Mother Oliver’s Place is named in honor of that legacy.
Toni brings a strong blend of youth services leadership, mental health support, and operational expertise. Her professional background includes youth supervision and temporary shelter support, crisis response, and counseling-focused work that helps young people strengthen decision-making, emotional wellbeing, and life skills. She also has extensive experience in program operations, process improvement, and performance tracking, helping mission-driven work stay consistent, accountable, and outcome-focused.
